Must be able to import or at least view Microsoft Project files

  • Ryan Kish

    Thanks for the feedback.

  • Richard Bonomo

I am greatly looking forward to this.

  • Mark Lesher

    This would be very helpful.

    • Ryan Kish

Let us know if you have specific feature requests, Mark.

  • Richard

Please add the ability to create tasks directly from macmail or outlook emails.

    • Ryan Kish

Thanks for the suggestion, Richard. If you’d like to elaborate on how you’d like to see this feature work, please send us your thoughts – http://blog.aecsoftware.com/contact/

  • Charles

i would be very happy to have an ipad version. The key would be being able to stay in sync between the computer and the ipad. so the ability to open or sync projects from mobile me and drop box would be huge

    • Ryan Kish

Great suggestion, Charles. Keep them coming!

    • Elikarp

Exactly to be able to sync them through Dropbox So whatever is on the mac can be seen on the job site with the iPad

  • Kevin Bendele

As an option, you could choose to integrate with the calendar on the iPad to give quick access to the project tasks on a daily basis. The option to put all active projects within one calendar would be good to allow the user to see what tasks (across all projects selected) are happening simultaneously.

The use of iPad alerts/badges/etc would be of great use as reminders during projects (ie, reminder set to order roof shingles 2 weeks before roofing labor to begin).

    • Ryan Kish

Thanks for the feedback, Kevin. Great ideas! Regarding “active projects” – would be interested in how you’d like to identify these. Project files placed in a specific “active” folder/directory? Project files containing tasks with start/end dates later than the current date? Project files with tasks less than 100% complete? Feel free to send us your comments through our feedback form – http://www.aecsoftware.com/company/contact/contact.asp?whom=feedback

    as many features as possible!!!

  • Tom

My ideal would have a link back to a server, so an update on one iPad would be immediately visible to all iPads. We are working on a project that will run around the clock for 9-12 months. The ability for updates to be immediately visible to all users would be huge.

    • Ryan Kish

Appreciate the feature suggestion, Tom. Sounds like you’ve got a hefty project on your hands. How large is your project team? How extensive is your project plan (# of tasks)?

  • Jussi

You should keep also CCPM and TOC in mind when developing this.

    • Serge Gloukhoff

Good suggestion! With regards to TOC, are you referring to Critical Chain (or a similar implementation), or just the ability to support/draw links/constraints?

  • Kevin

An iPad or more mobile version would be great. I work on a Windows platform and while iPads look nice, I do not have a business need for them. I hope that iPad *fts files can be shared with the Windows 7 version of FTS as is the case between both the Mac/Windows desktop versions. Otherwise, I would not go out and buy an iPad, the iPad FTS license, and the FTS desktop license for Mac. Can you share anything about file compatibility?

    • Ryan Kish

Compatibility across platforms is key for many FastTrack Schedule users. The ability to easily share and collaborate on projects with colleagues and customers running either Windows or OS X sets FastTrack Schedule apart from other desktop project management apps. With the mobile version of FastTrack, we’d like to maintain that level of compatibility. The fewer barriers there are to planning and reporting projects on PCs, Macs, and iPads the better. And you’re right, the iPad looks great, and it’s a blast to work on too.

Thats very great to hear that you are planning to develop an iPad version. As event manager working with a lot of volunteers an iPad app would be very great. One major thing I miss very much is the possibility to print/show calendars who are specific to resources. Fx at major events I work with approx. 100 volunteers. It would be great if I could print a personal calendar to each person with their specific jobs. Today there is a very heavy work around producing 100 different calendar views. Just a suggestion 😉

    Keep up the good work.

    • Ryan Kish

Glad you’re excited about the iPad version of FastTrack Schedule, Peter. We are too! Use of the iPad version on-site at a trade show is a perfect example of the benefit to having your schedules with you when you’re on the go.

Regarding creating/printing calendars (yes, 100 resources is quite a lot.) for individual team members, I’d suggest using a combination of Filters and FastSteps. First, create a separate Filter (e.g., Resources Assigned = Resource Name) for each resource. This will take a little time, but will pay dividends in the long run. Once you’ve created one Filter, you could also Duplicate the Filter then edit it, changing the resource value and the filter name.

Next, create a single FastStep macro that contains the many different commands that you would normally use on your own to create these 100 different calendar print outs (e.g, Switch to Calendar View, Apply Resource Filter, Print Filter, Restore the Schedule). All the Commands you’ll need for this FastStep are contained within the “Define FastSteps” dialog. This FastTrack FastStep will automate the process of generating and printing the 100+ resource calendars you need and save you loads of valuable time.

Hope this helps. Should you have any questions, just contact our Technical Support Team. http://supportcenter.aecsoftware.com/anonymous_requests/new

How close are you @rkish:disqus on completion of the iPad app?… we are starting the building phase of our conversion project immediately and have 19 weeks before our opening day… should have an iPad with days… and am heading up the overall organization of the project… and the iPad app would be a saviour for me!

    • Ryan Kish

We’re making great progress, and we’ll be posting a status
update very soon. I’m sure you’re excited to get your hands on that new iPad –
what an amazing device. Sounds as though your scheduling needs on your conversion
project are immediate, and I hope you’ll consider the Mac and/or Windows
versions of FastTrack – they’ll serve you well.

  • Jon

What is the ETA for the ipad app looking like? Would really love to make the switch over but waiting for the ipad app. Thanks!

    • Ryan Kish

Please stay tuned, Jon. We’ll be posting an update very soon.

  • Jeremy

Ryan & co: given that it is Q3 with no app, I am wondering if you had an update as to when it will be available?

    • Ryan Kish

Hi Jeremy, although the iPad version is looking better week by week, we’re not yet ready for a launch. We’ll continue to provide updates as we move forward, and we’ll let everyone know when we’re nearing the finish line. Thanks for your patience.

  • Edmo

Please provide an update on the development of an iPad app. We have the mac version, are looking and the Windows version, and desperately need an integrated solution that works on the iPad. Your platform would be ideal. Omniplan is Mac-only, SG Project Pro is rough around the edges, and MS Project on the iPad is nowhere to be found.

    • Ryan Kish

Hi Edmo, glad your team is enjoying the Mac version and appreciate you giving the Windows version a look. Together, they’re like PB&J. Regarding the iPad version, we are getting close to completion.
